A Final Thank You!
This past weekend has been an immensely exhilarating and remarkable experience for everyone involved. Without the continuous guidance from our MUN coordinator and the support from the UWC Dover facilitating staff, this conference could not have been as successful as it was. The executive team would like to sincerely thank each and every person who contributed to the conference!
There are two people in particular that transformed this conference from a dream into a reality. Arun Kukreja (the Conference Organizer) and Vansh Bagaria (the Director-General) founded the DOVERMUN Conference and Club almost a year ago. They "would have never imagined DOVERMUN taking the form that it did, yet we are equally if not more proud of the success."
As mentioned in the closing ceremony, UWC Dover has been taking part in MUN conferences for over 20 years now, yet has never had the opportunity to set up its own conference. The success of DOVERMUN 2021 has "paved the way for the establishment of a long-standing history." Arun hopes that DOVERMUN 2022 can be held in person which will allow delegates to "fully interact with each other and produce more meaningful relationships," as the HJCC committee exemplified this year.
When asked about something notable he witnessed, Arun mentioned his pleasant surprise at the high-quality debate within every committee. He especially commended the "Delegate of Syria from GA1 and Delegates of Afghanistan and Japan from ECOSOC who spoke excellently and were extremely constructive to the debate." He also applauded certain delegates whose first conference was at DOVERMUN because of the way they came "out of their shell" to engage within their committee.
Here is what he hopes participants learned from this conference:
"For the beginner participants, I hope DOVERMUN has sparked your interest in Model UN and will be the first of many successful conferences. For the more experienced participants, I hope this conference has provided you with an opportunity to foster your love for MUN and help you to hone your leadership skills to apply to another conference."
